TOPIC: Rekindle Your First Love (Pt. 4)
BIBLE READING: 1 Kings 3:3-15; 4:1, 20-21, 26, 29-32, 34.
KEY VERSE: “And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the status of David his father; only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places”. 1 Kings 3:3.
Is it possible for a man to be FULL and yet FAIL? Can a man that was born with God’s appellation of love for him (2 Sam. 12:24-25) disappoint God in the process of life? OR
Can a man who stood and appeared so distinct in his love for God and a shining type of Christ in the Old Testament church later become so sensual and senseless in his crazy love for women thus ending up as a castaway? SELAH!
Solomon’s life is one of the most tragic stories ever recorded in the world. This was a man that began so well, his love for God was simply supreme, superlative and exponential without any rivalry. He was in turn endowed with exceptional divinely imparted leadership and mental abilities (wisdom) that no one has ever attained in human history. He began magnificently but ended miserably. He was a compendium and assortment of wisdom in most areas of human specialization but failed to take heed to the very thousands of instructions he penned down on how to survive and succeed including being consistent in your love for God.
- THE TRAGIC TALE OF A FAILED LOVE: Song of Solomon 8:6-7; Neh. 13:26.
Given the opportunity, what would you have written as an epitaph on Solomon’s tomb?
He was a rare king that began well and ended tragically
Here lies the man that women quenched his love for God Or
The man that mortgaged his soul on things that only counts in this present world.
Solomon wandered into God’s forbidden paths thereby possessing a forbidden strength that jeopardized his future and set a terrible precedence. He had a perfect picture of what women can do. Prov. 5:6; 7:24-26; 12:4; 21:19; 27:15-16; etc. yet the same Solomon developed an unusual and strange affinity for women cutting across all tribes. He had a harem of outlandish women that brought him the earthly fame of officially marrying 700 wives (uncontrolled madness) and effectively sustaining 300 as visiting agents who together with his wives turned his heart away from God (Neh. 13:26). Women succeeded in quenching his love for God.
NOTE:
1. If we must rekindle our love for God, we must be consistent and conscious of how we walk with Him.
2. Maintain the pathway where we first met Him and never wander away or deviate from it.
3. Constantly examine ourselves in the light of His word and retrace our paths where we have erred.
4. Too much learning must not draw us away from where we first met Him.
5. You must never compromise or exchange God’s love for anything no matter the cost, importance or relevance.

Salvation Prayer
Have you ever made Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life?
If not, pray this prayer and start a new life in Christ.
Dear God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
