TOPIC: You Can Be Certainly Wrong

SCRIPTURE: “Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” – Jude 1:3

Love Worth Finding 7 July 2022 Devotional MESSAGE

Did you know that you can be certain and still be wrong? I was in New Orleans once when I was in seminary. I think I’d been preaching at the rescue mission. I was going back home I thought, but I got confused. I thought I was headed in one direction away from the river, but I kept on ending up at the river. I just knew I was going in the right direction. I turned around again, and my compass in my mind was all confused.

Have you ever lost a sense of direction? I was so certain I was going in the right direction, but I kept ending up at the river. Do you know what I did? I read and followed every sign and I got straight home. In life sometimes you will be dead certain you are right, and you are dead wrong.

That’s the reason we have the Bible and the reason we have the faith that is not only complete but also correct.

  • When was a time you were certain about something but turned out to be wrong?
  • How are these types of experiences helpful in pointing us back to Christ?

ACTION: Make a list of several things you are certain about and know to be true from the Bible.

Salvation Prayer

Have you ever made Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life?

If not, pray this prayer and start a new life in Christ.

Dear God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
