MFM Daily Devotional 25th August 2022 OUTLINE
Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest and can interfere with your daily life. It has been identified as a medical and emotional problem with it spiritual components. Proverbs 12:25, the Bible says, “Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.”

A heavy heart is one that is filled with sadness. The mood of such a person will be dejected. Both believers and unbelievers sometimes experience depression. Both the rich and the poor also do. There are stories in the Bible where certain people experienced depression: Moses (Numbers 11: 10-16), David (Psalm 51; Psalm 32: 1-5), Elijah (1 Kings 19:1-18), Job, Jonah (Jonah 4:1-11), Psalmist (Psalm 73).
In case you or someone you know is battling with depression, there is hope as well as a way out. First, let me make it clear that God does not want His children to be sad, although He might permit it sometimes for a reason. The Bible says we should always rejoice (1 Thessalonians 5:16). Proverbs 17:22 tells us, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”

The Bible also says that the joy of the Lord is our strength. How do people get into depression? Proverbs 12:25 has the answer: a heavy heart. That is, a heart full of anxiety, worries, sorrow, pain and unmet need and expectations. God does not want you to allow these negative emotions to occupy your mind. They are not good for your physical health, emotional and mental health as well as your spiritual heath.
When you worry and exhibit fear and anxiety, the implication is that your faith will develop wings and fly out. Faith and fear, doubt and anxiety do not co-habit. When you exhibit anxiety and worries, you are simply implying that God cannot meet your needs.
You will lose your connection to God, your true source, and still leave in lack. If you can develop and increase your faith in God and keep believing Him at all times, depression will be far from you and you will see.

Salvation Prayer
Have you ever made Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life?
If not, pray this prayer and start a new life in Christ.
Dear God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
