Scripture Union Daily Guide 29th December 2022 MESSAGE
This Psalm opens with the reflection of David on “the wicked”; someone who does not respect or reverence God. What is the foundation of their character and actions (v.1)? Every thought, word and action of the wicked is bent on mischief and evil. He thinks highly of himself and persuades himself that God does not interfere in his actions. Let not the wicked be deceived a terrible end awaits them (v.12).
By contrast, David, once a shepherd boy close to nature, chooses to focus on the amazing love, goodness and faithfulness of God and His bountiful provision for His children. Observe how he breaks out in adoration of the God who created nature depicted here in all its glory (vs.5‐6). God cares for His people and creation.
When you look at creation, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? What are the other attributes of God that David highlights in this Psalm? God is the Source of life and light (v.10). Jesus came to give us that life and light (cf. John 1:4).
So what? Is Jesus Christ your life and light?

Have you ever made Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life?
If not, pray this prayer and start a new life in Christ.
Dear God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
