TOPIC: Keep on Walking

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Luke 17:14, NCV – When Jesus saw the men, he said, ‘Go and show yourselves to the priests.’ As the ten men were going, they were healed.

Joel Osteen Devotional 4 January 2023 TODAY’S WORD

In Luke 17, Jesus was met by ten lepers who began to shout, “Jesus, have mercy on us!” Jesus could have spoken a word and healed them, but instead He said, “Go show yourselves to the priests,” which didn’t make sense. They could have thought, “Once we’re healed, we’ll go to the priests.” But faith says you have to believe it and act on it before you see it.

I can imagine that the lepers started walking what could have been several miles to the priests and in the first couple of hours didn’t see any change. Thoughts said, “Go home. You’re wasting your time.” But they kept walking even though there was no sign of healing. Finally, one of them looked at his skin and said, “It’s getting better!” Another began to move his hand and said, “My fingers are working!” The Scripture says, “As they went, they were healed.” If they had waited for things to change, they wouldn’t have seen the healing. Many times, the miracle is in the process of obedience to Jesus’ word.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for the promises You have put in my heart that haven’t happened yet. Thank You that I can keep walking in obedience to Your Word and not be distracted by what I don’t see. I’m going to keep praising, keep thanking, and I know that what I’m believing for is on the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Salvation Prayer

Have you ever made Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life?

If not, pray this prayer and start a new life in Christ.

Dear God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
