TOPIC: Rise from Slumber

FOCUS SCRIPTURE: “While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.” (Matthew 25: 5)

Streams of Joy Devotional 13th January 2023 MESSAGE

While the ten virgins waited for the Bridegroom, a time came when there was a delay, and they all slumbered and slept. What they came for was delayed, and their posture changed to that of people who were tired. Their expectations were yet to be fulfilled, and they adopted a posture that did not fit their expectations. They came for a party that required them to be awake, but because of the delay, they all slept off.

Friend, in 2023, beware of moments of slumber. Beware of those moments when you are simply too tired while waiting for your expectations to be fulfilled. Beware of those moments when you are tired without having achieved what you set out to achieve. Beware of those moments when what you are going through is making you accept a posture that is not compatible with your new season. Beware of slumber and sleep.

Notice that this slumber and sleep came at a time when men usually sleep and are tired from the day’s activities. So they slept at the right time, but it was wrong timing for their destiny assignment. You may easily explain your tiredness, and everyone may even agree that you should be tired, but make sure you are not sleeping off when destiny beckons. Make sure you are not taking a posture of sleep when your readiness is needed.

Today, arise from your sleep. Arise from your slumber. Arise from that posture that does not fit into the destiny demand on you at the moment. Arise from the place of laxity. Arise from the place of resting like those who have no destiny appointment. Arise from any posture that will make it difficult for you to fit into the space that God has made for you at the top. Arise from every weakness that wants to make your 2023 empty.

Remember, you may explain your tiredness and sleep, you may even deserve your sleep, but you may not be able to easily explain why you came all the way to meet the Bridegroom but slept off when it mattered most.

Ephesians 5: 14 says: “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”

DECLARATION: I arise from slumber; I refuse every posture that is incompatible with my new season, in Jesus’ name!

Salvation Prayer

Have you ever made Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life?

If not, pray this prayer and start a new life in Christ.

Dear God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
