OPENING PRAYER: Plant my steps in the sure promises of your word today, dear Lord.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Q 3: Is there any command for me to obey?

Scripture Union Daily Guide Friday 17th February 2023 MESSAGE

After God delivered the Israelites out of Egypt and saved them by parting the Red Sea, Moses and the whole congregation of Israel sang a wonderful song of praise to Him. Music played an important part in Israel’s worship and celebration. Singing was an expression of love and thanks, and it was a creative way to pass down oral tradition. Can you think of the great things God has done in your life and family? Do you express relief, praise, and thanks when you are delivered from trouble?

Notice the various ways God’s people described Him in vs.2-3. God was their strength, salvation and warrior. Who is God to you? The Israelites acknowledged that God subdued the boastings of the enemy and gave them victory (vs.4-10).

What qualities of God in v.11 distinguished Him from other gods? God’s power is demonstrated in vs.12-17. Equally God’s rulership and reign are expressed in vs.18-19, motivating Miriam the prophetess and other women to burst out in praise to Him (vs.20-21).

PRACTICE/WORD APPLICATION
And so: Are you motivated to give praise and thanks to God for His deliverance for you and your family? Do you acknowledge the supremacy of God in your life? Worship Him.

PRAYER FOCUS
DARE TO BE DIFFERENT

God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.
– Romans 12:6

THANK GOD FOR:
► Making our youths to be unique, with different gifts, traits and personalities to do great work in God’s kingdom.
► The gifts of God upon their individual lives.

PRAY FOR:
► Deliberate decision and willingness to be different, so the difference in their life styles will be evident.
► Grace to use the gifts they have received from God to serve His church and His people.
► Our youths to know that they are God’s master piece, hence must continue to live in the newness of life.
► That electoral officers in the forthcoming election will refuse to compromise on the election.

PRAY AGAINST:
► Living for material things instead of living for Christ especially when they see youths like them living false lives.
► Rebellious living instead of living in righteousness thereby remaining in darkness instead of in the light of God.

Salvation Prayer

Have you ever made Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life?

If not, pray this prayer and start a new life in Christ.

Dear God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
