David Jeremiah Today 15 February 2022 MESSAGE

It’s a common theme in many arenas of life: one chance, and one chance only. On television game shows, you get one chance to answer the question correctly. In baseball, you get one chance to hit the game-winning home run; in basketball, you get one chance to make the game-winning free throw. Occasionally, do-overs are allowed—like the “mulligan” shot in informal golf games.

Where would we be in life if God gave us only one chance to get it right? Perhaps Peter thought he had committed an unforgivable sin: “So he went out and wept bitterly.” Satan tempts us into thinking we have exceeded the limits of God’s grace when we make wrong choices.

Yet Paul wrote in Romans 5:20, “But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.” That is no excuse for willfully sinning, of course (Romans 6:1-2). But it is a reminder that we can never exhaust God’s forgiveness.

If you make a wrong choice, confess your sin to God and receive His forgiveness and restoration (1 John 1:9). There are no limits to God’s love.

In these days of guilt complexes, perhaps the most glorious word in the English language is “forgiveness.” – Billy Graham
